INTERNET
CAREER SITES BOOMING
|
| |
|
With the recent downturn
in the US economy and more people looking for work,
traffic on leading career websites is growing quickly.
According to Executive Recruiter
News, traffic to the leading career-related web
sites increased 47% among U.S. users between December
2000 and January 2001.
According to industry
analysts: "The economic downturn has provided a remarkable
opportunity for companies...to scoop
up multiethnic talent and use these employees
to gain market share".
In addition, new studies
show that the Internet is especially effective for
diversity recruiting. According to a recent poll conducted
by SHRM, recruiters rated the following
as the best methods for finding diversity candidates:
- Employee referrals =
70%
- Internet
Job Postings = 68%
- Job Fairs = 68%
- Newspapers = 63%
- Internships = 60%
- College campus visits
= 60%
- Employment agencies
= 59%
- Trade journal = 58%
- Corporate website =
50%
- Networking = 48%
As always, we love to
hear from you. If you have suggestions on future topics,
