The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is a Department of Defense combat support agency and an important member of the United States Intelligence Community. DIA provides military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. Its vital intelligence work supports U.S. military planning and operations and weapon systems acquisition.
Description of Opportunity: DIA field human intelligence (HUMINT) collectors contribute to a unique mission by applying their exceptional interpersonal skills, innate abilities, high-level training and professional talents alongside other highly capable and diverse individuals. Their efforts enable the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to provide military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers and force planners in the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. They provide actionable intelligence to our warfighters working on the front-lines of our nation's defense. They are immersed in foreign cultures and interact with people around the world. They speak native languages, provide intelligence analysis of global events and make an invaluable difference to our national security.
Within the Directorate for Human Intelligence, DIA has several specific occupational opportunities, including:
Collection Operations: Plan and conduct HUMINT collection, reporting on intelligence information obtained from human sources.
Collection Support: Direct and support HUMINT collectors who are conducting field operational activities.
Collection Requirements: Ensure that reports from current HUMINT collection operations are relevant, timely and accurate, and that they are disseminated in a timely manner to Intelligence Community analysts, Combatant Commanders and policymakers.
Collection Targeting: Conduct research and assist HUMINT collectors in the field in locating and contacting potential sources of intelligence.
Staff Support: Manage HUMINT collection operations, from training and administration to career management, policy and guidance.

Requirements |
Required Experience: Qualified candidates bring with them to DIA relevant experience and/or a bachelor's or advanced degree in political science, regional studies, international affairs, geography, economics, engineering, or physical or life sciences from an accredited college or university; or knowledge in another appropriate area. Foreign language skills are highly desired. Candidates must also have:
Experience developing logical thoughts into well-written reports.
Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey ideas fully and accurately.
General knowledge and familiarity with contemporary affairs through education, work experience, reading and/or travel.
Desire to grow professionally.
Effective interpersonal skills, professional ethics and self-motivation.
Resourcefulness to perform effectively under pressure.
Freedom to serve anywhere in the world, as required, at a moment's notice.
Ability to successfully complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination.
Familiarity with automated systems and tools.
Ability to travel frequently for temporary duty, often overseas.
Flexibility to be on call and to work whenever needed.
Required Education: Baccalaureate degree or higher from an accredited college or university in political science, regional studies, international affairs, geography, economics, engineering, or physical or life sciences or knowledge in another appropriate area.
